Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Can I get an estimate if an in-person site visit isn't possible yet?
Absolutely. If you are in the middle of buying a home or cannot arrange an in-person walkthrough right away, we can provide an initial, preliminary estimate using a real estate listing, room measurements, and photos. Please note that because we cannot assess the true condition of the walls or prep work required from pictures alone, the final price may be adjusted once we view the space in person.
Are you fully insured and WSIB compliant?
Yes. We carry comprehensive liability insurance and maintain full WSIB compliance to protect both our team and your property. We are always happy to provide copies of our insurance and WSIB clearance certificates upon request for your complete peace of mind.
How far in advance do you book out?
For interior projects, we typically book 3 to 5 weeks in advance. Because exterior painting relies entirely on warm, dry weather, those limited seasonal slots can book up to a year in advance. If you are planning an exterior project, we always recommend reaching out early to secure a spot in our seasonal calendar.
Do you offer after-hours or weekend painting for businesses or tight real estate deadlines?
Yes, we completely understand that timing is everything when it comes to business operations and real estate listings. We routinely accommodate evening and weekend work to minimize disruption to your staff and customers, or to ensure a property hits the market exactly on schedule to meet your listing dates.
On-Site Prep & What to Expect
How many painters are on your team, and how many will typically be on my job site?
Crew sizes are entirely dependent on the scope of the project. For interior work, we typically send a team of 2 to 4 painters. For exterior projects, we usually scale up to 3 to 6 painters to maximize good weather windows and complete the job efficiently.
Do I need to remove my doorknobs and outlet covers before you arrive?
Nope, leave them to us! We remove standard doorknobs and switch plates ourselves to ensure perfectly crisp lines, rather than just painting or taping around them. The only exception is electronic smart locks or power locks on your entry doors—we leave those high-tech systems safely intact so we don't accidentally disrupt your programming.
Do you paint specialty items like fireplaces, staircases, floors, or built-in cabinetry?
Absolutely. Backed by our technical training, we firmly believe you can paint almost any surface as long as you use the correct preparation, primers, and paint combination. We handle a wide variety of custom and specialty projects, including:
-
Staircases & Trim: Spraying staircase spindles, railings, and detailed custom trimwork.
-
Built-ins & Furniture: Updating built-in bookcases, office desks, and fine furniture.
-
Off-Site Spraying: Refreshing loose furniture pieces brought directly to our shop, including giving weathered Muskoka chairs a fresh look every summer.
-
Specialty Floors: Coating concrete basement floors and refreshing previously painted wood floors in classic local century homes.
-
Brick & Tile: Updating brick fireplaces and specialized surfaces to completely modernize a room
What brand of paint do you use?
Benjamin Moore is our go-to brand because we love supporting our local suppliers right here in Uxbridge and Port Perry. That said, we also frequently use Sherwin-Williams to tap into their excellent lineup of high-performance specialty products.
What paint sheen do you recommend for walls?
It completely depends on your lifestyle and your home. For busy households with kids or pets, we usually recommend an eggshell finish because it is highly washable and stands up beautifully to day-to-day messes. However, if you prefer a sleek, modern look, a matte finish is an excellent choice as it sits flatter, reflects less light, and does a fantastic job of hiding minor drywall imperfections.
Final Steps
How long does the paint take to dry?
Most premium paints will be touch-dry within 2 hours. However, we highly recommend waiting a full 24 hours before hanging artwork back up or pushing heavy furniture against the walls to ensure the finish has properly cured and hardened.
What is your payment structure and what methods do you accept?
Our payment structure varies depending on the size and scope of the project, but the majority of our jobs simply require payment upon completion. We accept cash, cheque, and e-transfer.
Do you offer a warranty?
While we do not carry a rigid, formal warranty protocol, we stand firmly behind our craftsmanship with a strong satisfaction guarantee. If you ever have a concern or notice something you are not fully satisfied with, just let us know and we will happily return to make it right.
